In a world increasingly focused on compliance I can help your organisation with governance processes that support management and your oversight functions in finding the right balance between performance and conformance activities to maximise your organisations objectives.

For example, the shift from a Taxonomy based risk management approach (e.g. a list of what could go wrong) to an Objective Centric Risk Management approach (e.g. what must we get right) is finally driving the right fundamental shift in risk culture.

Governance Frameworks

The processes and systems that support the people in governance are critical for success. Recent updates to global governance standards (e.g. ISO 37001:2001, 38500:2024 and 31000:2018) are providing important guidance on how to define your governance processes to help find the balance between your organisations performance and conformance.

Director Education

Delivering governance education across all types and sizes of organisations, taking new and experienced directors on their learning journies remains my 'happy place'.

About me

I have had the good fortune of three careers, the first in IT gave me a deep understanding of how information and technology can support an organisation. Then as a leader of IT Security and Cyber functions in financial institutions I had to learn how to bring pragmatic control structures to highly complex organisations. Co-founding and leading a boutique governance, strategy and risk advisory firm for 15 years broadened my IT Governance skillset out into Corporate Governance. The breadth and scope of engagements over this journey developed a pragmatic-ness to my advice that reflects that governance is often more about people.

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) only work with the best facilitators and I have been facilitating, authoring and reviewing governance, strategy, risk and cyber courses for them since 2010. As the author of all of the AICD's Cyber courses since 2017 I have been recognised as a thought leader in the governance of Cyber for over seven years.
